Die erste Woche in Peru verging wie im Flug und ich habe es genossen einmal etwas anderes als die Abgase des dauerhaften Verkehrs in der Stadt zu riechen.
EN - Arequipa is called "The White City". Most of the people guess that its name has something to do with the white coloonial rule from Spain. But the real reason why is because of the white buildings in the colonial area of the city. You can see where these big, white stones come from by visiting Ruta del Sillar. So a group of volunteers and myself went there being cramped in a minivan over bumpy roads. At first we visited a beautiful canyon where we had the chance to spot some ancient wallpaintings. Morover, we went to a stone pit where workers create the perfectly shaped white stones using only basic tools like hammer chisel. They work hard for very little money just as their fathers and grandfathers did before them. These volcanic stones are still used to build some new beautiful white buildings. While driving to the next stop we had to get out of the minivan, as we were to heavy for carrying us up a steep road. It is a really dry and dusty area. As we arrived on our second spot we were really relieved. There we visited Anashuayco which looks like a mini Petry city which was set in stone a long time ago. Nobody could tell me the meaning of this masterpice. Anyway, we had fun talking a lot of pictures there!Time flies in Peru; it has been a week since I arrived here and I have experienced so much things already and met so many nice people!
